Dr. Christina Martinez Duran for LAUSD 5
I am running to ensure students’ needs in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) are made a priority. Too often the bureaucracy of the school district interferes with the work of the classroom; depleting resources and adding unnecessary politics into the mix.
I want to use my experience as a parent and an educator, administrator, and financial auditor to help set a new course for the school district by delivering the promise of a bright academic future to all LAUSD students.
Join me and together we can positively impact the lives of thousands of children in Los Angeles.
Dr. Christina Martinez Duran
Dr. Christina Martinez Duran has over 30 years of experience as an educator. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting, a Master’s degree in Reading and Language Arts – Reading Specialist, and a Doctorate degree in Administration and Educational Leadership.
Dr. Christina Martinez Duran holds three Education Credentials that include the Multiple Subject Teaching (BCLAD), Administrative Services, and Specialist Instruction in Reading credential, a distinction that is only awarded to two percent of educators.
Her experience as an expert in audits and fiscal affairs with 20+ years in business management has made Dr. Duran keen on the financial solvency and transparency of operating school programs and overall operations. Dr. Christina Martinez Duran worked very hard to make significant contributions as a fiscal auditor and analyst for the Arizona State Auditor’s Office and the National Housing Coalition.
And as a teacher, principal, administrator, and district director, Dr. Christina Martinez Duran has focused on student academic achievement by supervising and advising school leadership teams, mentoring administrators on the development of Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAPS), and improving upon strategic planning.
With a proven record of serving on oversight committees, including the Accrediting Commission for Schools – Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS-WASC) which is responsible for school accreditations, Dr. Duran’s knowledge of local, state and federal educational programs makes her an ideal candidate to serve the needs of our students.
